Taxation dominates André’s practice. Having developed an expertise in litigation, planning and tax policy, he is called upon to advise his clients and to represent them in disputes against the tax authorities.

He joined the firm as legal counsel in taxation; his expertise allows him to act as a resource person with the taxation team.

He had a career as a professor of tax law that began in 1979 at the Law School of the University of Moncton, New Brunswick, and continued in 1982, for almost 35 years, at the Faculty of Law of Université Laval where he also held the position of Dean. He is now an Associate Professor at this same institution. He has also been a professor and invited lecturer at numerous universities in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Italy, France, Spain, Morocco, Vietnam, China and Croatia. He is a frequent contributor to the media as a tax expert.

From 2005 to 2007, he was a member of the Board of Directors of Université Laval, the University Council of Université Laval, and the Quebec Bar Council. He was a member of the Canada Revenue Agency's International Tax Advisory Committee from 2001 to 2004 and since 2003 has been a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Revue française de finances publiques, Paris.

With his expertise in taxation, as well as his teaching skills, André is an excellent popularizer greatly appreciated by his colleagues and clients.

    The inherent complexity of taxation poses a daily challenge that I find particularly stimulating and the quest for social justice encourages me to continue my daily involvement.

  • Social Involvement

    I was the founder of the University in the City, a project set up in collaboration with the Faculty of Law of Université Laval aimed at providing the most vulnerable members of society with a toolbox in terms of legal knowledge allowing them to work better in society. Also, I created the Tax Clinic at the same faculty to allow taxpayers to be represented at no cost by students in tax litigation before the Tax Court of Canada. These projects were a great source of pride because they had immediate and positive consequences for the day-to-day life of the citizens who took part.
